Ltd Ltd take part in Dragons' Den School

First launched in Japan, Dragons' Den is a world famous business television concept which airs in many countries around the world. Running for over ten years in the UK on BBC 2, the business investment show has become a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas, get feedback and in some cases gain investment.

The show sees budding entrepreneurs get three minutes to pitch their business ideas to the five multi-millionaire Dragons willing to invest their own cash.

The concept is so well known, simple and effective - it can even be used as a great way to spark children's entrepreneurial zest and engage them in business.

So when our director Seymour Reeves was approached by Frances Shilling, the head of Design Technology at Ironbridge Enterprise School, he was never going to say he was "out".

The students worked together in teams for seven weeks, adopting roles based on their personal strengths to design and manufacture products suitable for sale in one of the Ironbridge Gorge Gift Shops.

The idea was encourage their entrepreneurial spirit, but to also gauge their awareness of business and marketing issues.

The Dragons' alongside Seymour included; Henry Waterfall Allen from Toad Marketing, Claire Tullis a retail buyer, Steven Penny an Engineer and School Governor, as well as last years winners from 10G Jenni Nandi and Takia Choqdhury.

Following their presentations the Dragons' put the students through their paces, asking one of two questions to illicit additional information and gain a fuller understanding of their products.

You can see the proud winners bellow, who's innovative pot stand won out amongst some strong competition.
